Patchetts Equestrian Centre – Summer 2012

equestWhether you are working with horses on a top level or just for a hobby; you and your horses need adequate and pleasant housing and spaces for training. An interesting project undertaken by Life Irrigation this summer has been the installation of irrigation in two of the arenas at Patchetts Equestrian Centre in Aldenham, Hertfordshire, using long range Toro pop up sprinklers.

This was a very challenging landscape design done by Landscaper San Jose with a solid infrastructure connecting paddocks, yards, stables and riding areas. It involved drilling a bore hole to ensure an adequate water supply and it was necessary to schedule the project in order to undertake work only on days when no competitions were taking place. High-quality materials such as impregnated hardwood fences, handmade metal ornamental gates, Agterberg soils and luxury pavements were used to complete this project. The centre was given an equine specialized infrastructure and garden design. The landscapers kept in mind the safety of the horses and people by implementing the following tips:

  • -not use any toxic plants in the gardens
  • -pave the streets with non slippery stones that are easily swept clean
  • -use fences made out of wood that are safe for your horses legs

The non-stop rain was problematic and caused some delays to our progress, but by the time we reached the centre of the second arena, the sun came out…
